a Mardi Gras themed Dinner and Dance at Kensington Close Hotel in aid of <a href=\"http:\/\/transplantlinks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Transplant Links Community<\/a>\u00a0(TLC). \u00a0Guests were greeted by steel drums and samba sounds as they sipped &#8220;Mardi&#8221; punch in the reception.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-full wp-image-629 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lignumvitaeclub.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20151205_202123-e1449959542956.jpg\" alt=\"HE Aloun Ndombet-Assamba\" width=\"288\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lignumvitaeclub.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20151205_202123-e1449959542956.jpg 288w, https:\/\/www.lignumvitaeclub.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20151205_202123-e1449959542956-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 288px) 100vw, 288px\" \/>Our evening&#8217;s\u00a0guests included Her Excellency <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aloun_Ndombet-Assamba\" target=\"_blank\">Aloun Ndombet-Assamba<\/a>, our Patron; CEO TLC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dr-jennie-jewitt-harris-1a52a06\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Jennie Jewitt-Harris<\/a>;\u00a0Artist Damian Barnshaw, whose painting was the 2nd prize of our raffle prizes; MC <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zoominfo.com\/p\/Paulette-Simpson\/113886933\" target=\"_blank\">Paulette Simpson<\/a>\u00a0from the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jnbs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jamaican National Building Society<\/a>\u00a0(who produced the event&#8217;s brochure). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chair welcomed and introduced everyone, outlining the evening before handing over to our MC Paulette Simpson. \u00a0There was an address by H E Aloun Ndombet-Assamba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Annette Pascall, a long standing member said the grace before\u00a0we enjoyed a three course meal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr Jennie Jewitt-Harris was our after dinner speaker and she spoke about the work of TLC particularly their recent work in Jamaica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We then had two raffles. \u00a0The\u00a0door raffle prize was Afternoon Tea donated by the hotel. \u00a0The main raffle had a variety of prizes. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First prize was holiday accommodation in St Peters, Barbados donated by Glenda Clarke<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Second prize was an abstract painting by Damian Barnshaw<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Third\u00a0prize was a Christmas hamper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fourth prize was a Grace Foods hamper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fiifth prize was another Afternoon Tea, a surprise donation from the hotel\u00a0on the night\u00a0(thanks!)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sixth prize offered by Lascelles James on the night was\u00a0his latest CD <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seventh prize (also another surprise donation on the night) was a photo shoot donated by Andy Rodgers Photography.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout the evening photographs were taken by Susan and Dionne from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.andyrogersphotography.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Rogers Photography<\/a>. \u00a0 After the winners had been presented their fabulous prizes\u00a0we had a wonderful display\u00a0of Carnival Dancers. \u00a0There were\u00a0Salsa and Limbo dancing and they enticed several people to join them on the dance floor. \u00a0After they left the floor, we took to the floor for dancing until the early hours.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lignumvitaeclub.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20151205_2341441-e1449959626470.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-633\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lignumvitaeclub.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20151205_2341441-e1449959626470.jpg\" alt=\"Conga Line\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was an extremely enjoyable evening and we have had several comments about when will be the next one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you came to our event and would like to attend a future dinner dance please contact us, leave us a comment here or on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Lignum-Vitae-Club-1633461056908517\/\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>-Angela Newby, \u00a0Treasurer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday 5th December over 150 people attended Lignum Vitae Club\u2019s end of year extravaganza &#8211;
